Leron SILVER

Professional photographer

Leron Silver is a 32 years old french geoarcheologist who spent the last 15 years developing his skills and passion for geoscience. While undertaking a Geology master’s degree in France, he began collecting crystals. Shortly after graduation, he started to work in the UK as an exploration geologist in the Oil & Gas industry. He was eager to look for oil & gas as it is like treasure hunting. The objective is to find evidence within rocks to locate oil and gas accumulations. He spent 5 years prospecting many areas across the globe. At some point, he thought: What if the same approach would be applied to minerals ? Could we find interesting clues within crystals ? This is when he left the UK and started to work as a freelance geoarcheologist, traveling to add more incredible findings to his collection of crystals.

Leron Silver truly believes that crystals not only contain traces of geological history but, that really rare ones, could reveal secrets of the universe. Each of these very special specimens are like pieces of a puzzle. He is convinced that some of them are showing maps of futur worlds whilst others are windows to parallel worlds for example. The mind boggles… This series of photography is like an invitation to travel and explore crystals around the world with Leron Silver.

Leron Silver uses the Canon 5DSR reflex camera associated with the 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art lens from Sigma. His macro photographies are realised in studio under very finely tuned lighting conditions. This is key to reveal well hidden findings within crystals. He applies the Post-processing Focus Stacking technique in order to generate one photography from up to 150 different depths of field. This work is close to microscopy. It requires much precision and generally takes weeks to create one final photography.
